La Xunta opens the deadline for educational centers to present their work in the contest of images and audiovisual pieces for 25-N, Day against Gender Violence

The Xunta de Galicia invites Galician students from non-university educational centers to participate in the contest of graphic images and audiovisual pieces on November 25, International Day Against Gender Violence. The web pages of the General Secretariat for Equality and some Department of Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities collect the bases of the appeal with which it is intended to send a resounding message of no to gender violence and to contribute to a reflection on respect.

The competition is open to students of non-university education in Galician centers that teach primary, secondary, baccalaureate, vocational training and plastic arts and design education. Everyone can present their work until October 31, at 3:00 p.m.

The drawings can be presented individually or in teams consisting of a teacher and a maximum of 8 people, seeking a balanced representation of male and female students. It will be a priority that the elaboration of graphic images and audiovisual pieces be part of a global work, which integrates awareness and critical evaluation of the collective response to gender violence.

The organization establishes three categories of participation. The first is represented by the pupils of 5th and 6th Primary Education, 1st and 2nd ESO and Special Education. The second will receive the works presented by the pupils of 3rd and 4th ESO, 1st and 2nd of the Baccalaureate, and of the basic cycles FP, medium and higher. The 3rd category is reserved for boys and girls attending Special Education in Plastic Arts and Design.

The Xunta will admit works consisting of the design of a graphic image or audiovisual pieces. In the first case, an eminently graphic work, poster, comic strip, illustration, drawing, etc. must be presented. In the audiovisual modality, short films, video clips, performances, flash mobdance, video poems, recited texts…

Each center can present only one work in each of the categories and modality of participation which must include the sentence November 25. International day against gender violence as well as a motto in Galician related to the theme.

The Ministry of Employment and the Promotion of Equality invites the centers to make their proposals containing clear and resounding messages allowing a reflection on gender violence. Through them, emphasis must be placed on prevention, early detection and intervention against this scourge.
