The Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana and the Co-net Art association will present next Friday, December 16, the results of the projects developed over the last two months in the first edition of ‘Ceramic Res’, the artistic residency program on contemporary ceramics promoted by Co-net Art and co-produced by the CMCV under the aegis of Cultura Resident.
The Open Studio in which the artists present their projects will be held between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday, at the Escola Superior de Cerámica de L’Alcora (ESCAL), where the work was carried out.
“One of the lines of work of the Consorci de Museus is the creation of a regional program of artist residencies. In 2017, we launched Cultura Resident, with a presence in the territory that has continued to grow, at the same time as it has expanded to international destinations. With these programs we strengthen the cultural fabric and contemporary creation in different parts of the Valencian Community, both in urban and rural settings, and we offer time, space and resources to those selected to carry out their work. , promoting talent and creativity. ”, underlines the director of the Consorci de Museus, José Luis Pérez Pont.
‘Ceramic Res’ is a two-month artist residency program that revolves around contemporary ceramics, offering spaces that encourage collaboration, discovery, creation, interaction and dissemination of contemporary art . The initiative seeks, at the same time, to deepen the relationship of ceramics with the territory and to deepen the social and industrial ties of the discipline with the province of Castellón.
First edition ‘Ceramic Res’ at L’Alcora
In this first edition of the call, four projects have been selected: “Futures of the past”, by Sandra Val (Madrid, 1979); “Fortuitous aesthetics”, by Ana Rod (La Coruña, 1982); ’tilesa. The way in which gold must be dimmed”, by Javier Bravo Rueda (Callao, Peru, 1989), and “What is a caduf for”, by Monserrat Gómez-Osuna (Madrid, 1964).
Sandra Val’s proposal ‘Futures of the past’, focuses on the recovery of cultural identification codes from memory, through the recombination of everyday and architectural elements through the construction of scenarios that pose utopia and timelessness.
Monserrat Gomez-Osuna’s project, ‘What is a caduf used for’, has its origins in the observation and investigation of the ceramic tradition of L’Alcora and its surroundings for the creation of new objects close to domestic ceramics , in which He speaks of tradition, ruin and abandonment of his own pictorial language.
Ana Rod, with ‘Fortuitous Aesthetics’, starts from the sensory as the first vehicle of communication, the purest and most sincere form of knowledge. The aesthetic design arises as a fortuitous balance of power between the object and the individual where we observe the intrusion of decorative styles present in the ceramic tradition of L’Alcora.
Javier Bravo de Rueda presents ‘Tilesa. The Way Gold Should Be Dissolved”, an experiential work that focuses on the remains of the Earl of Aranda’s royal factory. A project that aims to materialize the time spent in the place, through its remains and ruins.
‘Ceramic Res’ is a project of the Co-net Art association produced by the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana, which has the collaboration of the Diputació de Castelló for the promotion of ceramics, the Ajuntament de l’Alcora, the Alcora Ceramics Museum, ESCAL (Escola Superior de Ceràmica de l’Alcora), Caixa Rural de L’Alcora and the MARTE contemporary art fair in Castelló de la Plana.
