Today, November 11, 2022, at the headquarters of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN), the annual meeting of the Plenary Session of the Nutrition Observatory and Study of Nutrition was held. obesity, in the presence of its president, Dr. Fernando Rodríguez Artalejo; the vice-president of the Observatory and executive director of AESAN, Ms. Isabel Peña-Rey Lorenzo; the Deputy Director General of Nutrition, Almudena Rollán Gordo and the members and members of the Observatory.

The Executive Director of AESAN, Isabel Peña-Rey Lorenzo, opened the meeting at 10:30 a.m. by welcoming the members of the Observatory, on the occasion of the celebration of its tenth plenary meeting which took place online. .

He then gave the floor to the President, Dr. Fernando Rodríguez Artalejo, who detailed the various points on the agenda presented by the team of the General Sub-Directorate for Nutrition of AESAN.

First, Dr. Esther López, member of the AESAN scientific committee and coordinator of the recently published report on sustainable dietary recommendations and physical activity recommendations for the Spanish population, presented the main conclusions of the report.

Secondly, the summary of the results of the final evaluation of the food and beverage composition improvement plan 2017-2020 was presented, as well as the entry into force of the maximum limit of salt in bread of the Royal Decree 308/2019, of April 26, which approves the quality standard for bread.

Subsequently, the results of the qualitative study on the perceptions of nutrition, food practices and healthy lifestyles in the adolescent population were presented.

Subsequently, other studies and works of the Observatory were presented, among which the collaborations with the COSI initiative (publication of the 5th cycle report) and the report on obesity in the European region of the world stand out. WHO, as well as the update of the NAOS strategy indicators, and other reports produced over the period 2021-2022.

Subsequently, the Deputy Director General of Nutrition, Almudena Rollán Gordo, and the rest of the team presented the other lines of work of AESAN in progress, highlighting the draft Royal Decree establishing the rules for the development of articles 40 and 41 of Law 17/ 2011, of July 5, on food safety and nutrition, for the promotion of healthy and sustainable food in educational centers, collaboration with other initiatives for the promotion healthy eating and obesity prevention: National Childhood Obesity Plan and Guide to Health Promotion Schools; work related to the Nutri-Score frontal labeling and the call for applications for the 2022 edition of the NAOS Strategy Awards.

Finally, it was reported that the XIV Convention and the XV NAOS Awards 2021 ceremony will take place on November 28.

Subsequently, the floor was given to other members of the Observatory to present their work. M Lourdes de Torres presented the work of the General Nursing Council in relation to the training of school nurses in “healthy, safe and sustainable food”.

After a round of interventions by the participants, the meeting ended at 2:00 p.m.
