The Town Hall of Murcia completes the removal of asbestos cement in three schools in Puente Tocinos, Churra and Javalí Nuevo


The Department of Boroughs and Neighborhoods, Human Resources and Urban Planning is investing 285,622 euros in this work

The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Districts and Neighborhoods, Human Resources and Urban Development, headed by Ainhoa ​​Sánchez, has completed the asbestos cement removal works and improvement of energy efficiency in the nursery and primary schools of the painter Pedro Flores (Puente Bacons), Carolina Codorniú Bosch (Churra) and Contraparada (Javalí Nuevo). In total, the Town Hall invested 285,622 euros in this work.

Sánchez explained that the works being completed “have made it possible to improve public schools in three neighborhoods, abandoned for years”, according to municipal sources in a press release.

In this sense, the councilor added that “it is the firm will of this government team to continue giving the neighborhoods of the municipality of Murcia the attention they deserve, to all its neighbors, in order to have access to services than those of the city center and that they can benefit from modern and renovated infrastructures”.

In the CEIP Pintor Pedro Flores, the objective of the project was to carry out the necessary works to replace the existing asbestos cement roofing, to improve the energy efficiency of the center, which included the necessary actions to eliminate materials containing asbestos and replace them with another covering in sandwich type panels, made up of two sheets of galvanized and lacquered steel, with an intermediate filling of 30 mm thick polyisocyanurate foam, as thermal insulation.

In this educational center, a layer of insulating rock wool felt, 100 mm thick, is also provided on the slab; Finally, a photovoltaic installation is carried out using panels placed on the metal pergola which covers the playground. The works had a budget of 82,215 euros.

In the case of CEIP Carolina Codorniú Bosch (Churra), the purpose of the project was to carry out the necessary works to replace the existing asbestos-cement roofing, in order to improve the energy efficiency of the center, which included the actions necessary to eliminate the asbestos-containing materials and replace them with another covering in sandwich-type panels, consisting of two sheets of galvanized and lacquered steel, with an intermediate filling of polyisocyanurate foam 80 mm thick, as thermal insulator.

Finally, in this school a photovoltaic installation will be created using panels placed on the roof of the children’s pavilion. The works had a budget of 107,911 euros.

Finally, at CEIP Contraparada (Javalí Nuevo), the objective of the project was to carry out the necessary works to replace the existing asbestos-cement roofing, in order to improve the energy efficiency of the center, which included the necessary actions to eliminate asbestos-containing materials and replace them with another cover in sandwich-type panels, made of two sheets of galvanized and lacquered steel, with an intermediate filling of polyisocyanurate foam 30 mm thick, as thermal insulation.

A layer of rock wool insulating felt 100 mm thick is also provided on the slab; Finally, a photovoltaic installation is carried out using panels placed on the flat roof of the pavilion subject to the work. The works in this case had a budget of 95,496 euros.
